Dr Kal Yacoub
Specialist Pain Medicine Physician
Dr Kal Yacoub is a Pain Specialist at Sydney Pain Specialists with a strong academic and clinical foundation in multidisciplinary pain medicine. He completed his medical degree at The University of Notre Dame in 2019, followed by a Master of Medicine (Pain Management) at The University of Sydney in 2022. He went on to obtain Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2023 and Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2025.

Kal initially undertook his pain medicine training at Liverpool Hospital, a large quaternary referral centre managing complex tertiary and state-wide referrals, before further advancing his subspecialty training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. During his junior doctor years, he worked across several major metropolitan hospitals including Westmead Hospital, Auburn Hospital, Nepean Hospital and Northern Beaches Hospital. This broad exposure allowed him to develop strong clinical acumen across acute, peri-operative, medical and complex chronic disease settings, shaping a well-rounded and balanced approach to patient care.

His clinical interests include complex persistent pain, neuropathic pain, post-surgical pain syndromes, cancer-related pain and interventional pain procedures. He practices within a multidisciplinary biopsychosocial framework, recognising that pain is rarely purely physical and requires a comprehensive, individualised treatment strategy. Kal combines evidence-based medicine with practical, patient-centred decision-making, ensuring management plans are realistic, functional and aligned with each patient’s goals.

Above all, he values clear communication and strong therapeutic relationships. Kal prides himself on being personable, understanding and empathetic, while upholding the core pillars of medicine — respect, compassion, integrity and professionalism — alongside technical expertise in every consultation.
